The 43-year-old artist, known for her hit songs like “Angel of Mine” and “The Boy Is Mine,” was carried away by a crew member after fainting, and fans on X, formerly Twitter, claimed she was subsequently taken away by ambulance.
Monica, who has been open about her health challenges, particularly mitral valve prolapse and high blood pressure, has faced similar incidents in the past. In a 2016 Huffington Post article, she detailed how her heart issues began at the age of 18 while on tour. During a performance in Washington D.C., she experienced loss of consciousness, with everything in front of her fading in and out. She walked to the side of the stage to ask for help and collapsed into the arms of a staff member.

Diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, Monica was hospitalized for almost a month before resuming her tour. Mitral valve prolapse is a condition where the flap separating the heart’s upper and lower chambers doesn’t close properly.
Monica, a mother of three, has two sons with ex-fiance Rodney ‘Rocko’ Hill, Rodney (19), and Romelo (16). She also has a daughter, Laiyah (10), with ex-husband Shannon Brown, an NBA player, from whom she filed for divorce in March 2019 after an eight-year marriage.
Monica’s illustrious career began at the age of 11 in 1991 when she was discovered by music producer Dallas Austin. She released her debut album, “Miss Thang,” in July 1995, and her duet with Brandy, “The Boy Is Mine,” became the biggest hit of 1998. Her film debut came in 2000 in the MTV Films project “Love Song.”
Despite this recent health scare, Monica continues to tour, with her next concert scheduled for Saturday, January 13, in Tallahassee, Florida, according to her website. Fans wish her a speedy recovery and hope for her continued success in her music career.
