Mayor Judd Matheny Found Dead at His Residence

Judd Matheny, the mayor of Coffee County, Tennessee, tragically passed away at his residence on April 2, 2024, at the age of 53.

The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), which took over the case from the Tullahoma Police Department.

Reports from local news outlets indicate that he was discovered inside a vehicle in his home’s driveway.

Matheny, a Republican politician, dedicated over 16 years to public service in Tennessee.

He served as a state representative for the 47th district from 2002 to 2018, holding prominent roles such as speaker pro tempore. Following his tenure in the state house, Matheny was elected as the Mayor of Coffee County in 2022.

Throughout his career, Matheny demonstrated a commitment to serving his community. Before entering politics, he served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, highlighting his dedication to both state and country.
