Alice Stewart, a veteran political adviser and CNN political commentator, passed away at the age of 58.

She was known for her work on several GOP presidential campaigns and her impactful presence at CNN.
Cause of Death
Law enforcement officials revealed that Stewart’s body was discovered outdoors in the Belle View neighborhood of northern Virginia early Saturday morning, May 18, 2024.
No foul play is suspected, and authorities believe she experienced a medical emergency.
Early Life and Education
Stewart hailed from Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Tucker High School and earned degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism.

Career
Stewart began her career as a weekend anchor at NBC’s Little Rock affiliate KARK television station. She then served as communications director for the presidential campaigns of former Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and former Senator Rick Santorum.

She worked for Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as communications director for his first presidential campaign and part of his second campaign until her resignation in 2015. Stewart was also a communications director for Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign.
In 2016, Stewart joined CNN, where she contributed significantly to the network’s election coverage. In 2019, she became a Harvard Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Personal Life
Stewart was an avid runner who participated in the TCS New York City Marathon in November 2023 and the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile race in April 2024.
CNN’s CEO, Mark Thompson, expressed deep sorrow over Stewart’s passing, praising her political acumen and kindness. Texas Senator Ted Cruz also paid tribute to Stewart, acknowledging her talent and the fullness with which she lived her life.
