The game had its moments of controversy with VAR canceling a goal by Real Betis and Vinicius Junior’s opportunity being thwarted by Betis’ defense.

The second half saw Betis intensifying their offense, prompting Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to make a couple of crucial saves.

As the match neared its end, Kroos almost had a fairy-tale finish to his time at Real Madrid with a free kick, but it was saved. The game also served as an emotional goodbye to Kroos, who plans to retire after the Euro 2024 tournament.

He was given a touching tribute by the fans at Santiago Bernabéu. With no goals scored, Ancelotti’s team is now set to head to London on May 28 to complete their preparations for the upcoming critical match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
