The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has openly challenged the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to provide evidence supporting his claims about Rock City Hotel’s financial status.

The confrontation arose after Ablakwa alleged that documents obtained from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) indicate that Rock City Hotel Limited, owned by the Agric Minister and MP for Abetifi, is operating at a loss and therefore unqualified to purchase the lucrative and profitable SSNIT hotels.

During an interview on Onua 95.1 FM’s Yen Nsempa on June 19th, Honorable Acheampong firmly rejected these claims, stating that they were unfounded and lacked credibility.

“I heard Okudzeto making allegations of intercepting some documents from GRA but he has no such documents, there is nothing true in that statement, they are all lies.”

The Minister went on to explain that based on information he received from the hotel’s management, Rock City Hotel has not yet submitted its tax returns for the year 2023. Therefore, according to him, even the GRA does not have knowledge of the company’s financial standing to assert that it is running at a deficit.

“Managers of Rock City have reported to me that they haven’t filed their 2023 taxes; they will be filed by the end of June. So, they haven’t been filed yet. Where did Okudzeto get the supposed documents, he’s talking about from GRA, because the Managers of Rock City haven’t filed them yet, where did he get the said documents from?” Acheampong questioned.
