The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant by Indiana State Police. Daniel Muir faces charges of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanour, and obstruction of justice, a felony. Kristen Muir is charged with obstruction of justice. Indiana State Police Sgt. Steven Glass confirmed that Bryson Muir is “safe and well” and is now in the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services.

Bryson’s disappearance was reported by his grandmother, Cheryl Wright, who called police on June 16 from Garfield Heights, Ohio, alleging that her grandson was being abused. Wright took a picture of Bryson’s injuries, which included a black eye, a busted lip, and significant facial swelling. She claimed that Bryson told her his father was responsible for the injuries. After taking Bryson to her home to protect him, Wright called the police when Kristen arrived and left with Bryson. When police stopped Kristen’s vehicle shortly after, Bryson was not inside.

Indiana investigators had difficulty contacting the Muirs. On Friday, Daniel and Kristen initially agreed to meet with Indiana State Police and bring Bryson but backed out an hour before the scheduled meeting. This led to a statewide Silver Alert being issued, indicating that Bryson could be in “extreme danger and may require medical assistance.”

The search warrant was executed at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, and officers found Bryson and his parents at their home. Sgt. Glass reported that the operation was “peaceful,” and Bryson was taken into protective custody.
