Formed in the mid-90s, Akyeame was instrumental in elevating hiplife music in Ghana and beyond.
Their hits like “M’asan Aba” and “Bra Me Tsen” made waves, and they were the first hiplife group to win the Ghana Music Awards, among other accolades. However, after four successful albums, the duo parted ways in 2004.
In a recent interview on TV3’s Afternoon Show, Okyeame Kwame discussed the possibility of reuniting.
He mentioned that while they have recorded some new material together, they haven’t committed much time to their projects.

He explained that their different personal goals make it hard to come together as Akyeame again. Despite this, they still perform together occasionally.
Okyeame Kwame explained that although they have some recordings, the challenge is releasing the music and then committing to promote it together.
He shared that both he and Okyeame Kofi haven’t fully embraced how important and enjoyable a reunion could be.
He recalled an instance where he invited Okyeame Kofi on stage at the VGMA, but due to an emergency, Kofi couldn’t join him. This shows the practical difficulties they face in reuniting as a group.
