Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, marking his second term in office. Inauguration Day will feature various traditional events, from the Swearing-In Ceremony to the Inaugural Balls, alongside special performances.

The day’s highlight will be the Swearing-In Ceremony, scheduled to begin at noon EST. During this event, Trump will take the oath of office, officially commencing his second term as president. As is customary, the ceremony will be accompanied by prayers, speeches, and musical performances by notable artists, including country stars Carrie Underwood and Lee Greenwood.

However, this year’s inauguration will be different. Due to a forecast of extreme cold temperatures in Washington, D.C., the event has been moved indoors. Typically held on the platform outside the U.S. Capitol building, the ceremony will instead take place in the Capitol Rotunda. Trump announced the decision, citing concerns about public safety amid the Arctic blast sweeping across the country.
“The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the wind chill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows,” Trump said in a statement. “I don’t want to see people hurt or injured in any way. Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, prayers, and other speeches to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was done by Ronald Reagan in 1985 due to similarly cold weather.”
With preparations underway, the nation looks ahead to a historic moment as Donald Trump takes the presidential oath for a second time.
