Bob Dole was an American politician, Republican Leader of the Senate and attorney who represented Kansas in the United States Senate from 1969 to 1996.

Robert Joseph Dole was born on July 22, 1923, in Russell, Kansas, the United States to parents, Bina M. Talbott and Doran Ray Dole. His father, who had earned money by running a small creamery.
Bob Dole’s family moved to Russell shortly before he was born. He graduated from Russell High School in the spring of 1941 and enrolled at the University of Kansas the following fall.
Bob Dole later attended the University of Arizona from 1948 to 1949, however, he transferred to Washburn University, where he graduated with both undergraduate and law degrees in 1952.

Elizabeth Dole was born Mary Elizabeth Alexander Hanford in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Mary Ella Cathey and John Van Hanford. She attended Duke University and graduated with distinction in Political Science, on June 2, 1958.

Elizabeth Dole did her post-graduate work at Oxford in 1959 and had also earned her master’s degree in education from Harvard University in 1960. She also followed with a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1965.
Elizabeth Dole has served as the United States Senator for North Carolina from 2003 to 2009. She is a member of the Republican Party and former chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
