Anna Sorokin posing as Anna Delvey is a Russian-German convicted fraudster. Between 2013 and 2017, while living in the U.S., she pretended to be a wealthy German heiress under the name Anna Delvey in order to defraud banks, hotels, and wealthy acquaintances.

Anna Delvey was convicted of multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services in relation to these offenses in 2019.

A television adaptation of her story titled Inventing Anna was developed by Netflix.

How much did Netflix pay Anna Delvey?

According to Insider, Anna made $320,000 from Netflix for the right to turn her life story into a TV series. But that got a little complicated.

New York state froze its assets in May 2019, as part of its “Son of Sam” law, which prevents criminals from profiting off of their crimes.

Ahead of the premiere of Inventing Anna, the real Sorokin penned an essay for Insider that detailed her life now. She is currently in Orange County Correctional Facility based on the grounds that she is “a continuous danger to the community.”
