Ernest Borgnine Cause Of Death: What Happened To Tova Borgnine’s Husband?

Ernest Borgnine, who earned an Academy Award for his depiction of a lovelorn butcher in 1955’s “Marty,” has died at the age of 95, according to his manager.

In early films like “From Here to Eternity” and “Bad Day at Black Rock,” the thick-set, gap-toothed Borgnine established a reputation for playing heavies.

But, as the meek, homely title character in “Marty,” he turned that image on its head, winning the Academy Award for Best Actor, one of the film’s four nominations.

Ernest Borgnine is the spouse of Tova Borgnine, the owner of Beauty by Tova cosmetics.

Borgnine died of kidney failure Sunday afternoon, according to his manager, Lynda Bensky. At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his wife, Tova, and children were by his side, she added.

“It’s a very sad day,” Bensky said. “The industry has lost someone great, the caliber of which we will never see again. A true icon. But more importantly, the world has lost a sage and loving man who taught us all how to ‘grow young.’ His infectious smile and chuckle made the world a happier place.”
