James Eugene Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Canada to parents Percy Joseph Carrey and Kathleen Oram. His mother Kathleen was a homemaker, while his father Percy Carrey worked as a musician and accountant.
Jim Carrey was alongside three older siblings, John, Patricia, and Rita. He attended Blessed Trinity Catholic Elementary School in North York, Toronto. He then attended Aldershot High School and enrolled at Agincourt Collegiate Institute before dropping out on his sixteenth birthday.
