Brent co-hosted with Ryan Bergara before leaving the show.

From 2006 to 2010, Brent attended Kate School, a boarding school in Carpinteria, California.

Brent also attended Principia College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. According to his website, “[He] wanted to be a shark biologist before creating travel content.” He “also made videos for [his] alma mater as a side business to make money at college.”

From July 2014 to October 2014, Brent worked as a creative video production intern at BuzzFeed. Thanks to his biology degree, he makes “science videos” for BuzzFeed. Then he became a senior video producer.

In January 2015, Brent co-authored an article titled “Environmental Correlations of Cell Type Distribution in Andropogon gerardii (Poaceae)” in the American Journal of Botany.

Ryan Bergara had explained that he and Brent sparred over the unsolved case on the way to work , which finally solved the problem they created BuzzFeed: Unresolved. Brent appeared in many episodes until his final episode, The Horrific Murder of the Zodiac Killer.

Ryan explained that the reason Brent ended up leaving the show was, “As the show got bigger and more time-consuming, Brent didn’t really have the time to do it because he Also a video producer with other jobs to do. He really didn’t like crime investigations, so he decided to step down.” Ryan then asked Sean to co-host with him.

From July 2016 to September 2016, Brent worked as a Snapchat video producer, where he “worked on the BuzzFeed staff team leading the Snapchat Discover Olympics channel for the Rio 2016 Olympics”.

In December 2016, he began creating content for the BuzzFeed show “Bring Me,” which premiered on Facebook.

In February 2018, he returned to his role as Snapchat video producer at the Olympics, “in charge of the Snapchat pop-up discovery channel for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics” in South Korea.
