Harding revealed that she had been diagnosed with the disease in August 2020 and that it had spread to other parts of her body. Harding revealed earlier that year that doctors told her she wouldn’t live to see another Christmas.

On social media, her Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle led the tributes.

“I can’t believe that this day has come,” Roberts wrote alongside photos of the two of them. My heart hurts, and all-day everything we’ve been through together has been racing through my mind… a part of me wants to cry.

Harding rose to fame in 2002 as a contestant on ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals, a talent show that sought to find a new girl and boy band.

Despite being the underdog, she made it to the final and earned the final spot in the group that became Girls Aloud, alongside Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, and Cheryl Cole (then Tweedy)
