Drew Blythe Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California, United States. She was born into a family of actors.  Her father is an American actor John Drew Barrymore while her mother was the aspiring actress Jaid Barrymore (born Ildikó Jaid Makó).

Drew Barrymore is a recipient of several significant honours, Drew Barrymore has won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award for her role in Grey Gardens. Drew has a British Academy Film Award nomination and five Emmy Awards nominations. Drew Barrymore is currently hosting her syndicated talk show The Drew Barrymore Show.

Drew Barrymore released an autobiography Little Girl Lost and got autobiographical essays titled Wildflower, published by E. P. Dutton in 2015. Drew Barrymore is the mother of two children: Olive Barrymore Kopelman, and Frankie Barrymore Kopelman. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004 and owns the production company Flower Films.

Drew Barrymore and her mom have been estranged for many years. Her mother reportedly was the cause of her chaotic childhood. Following the divorce of her parents 9 and during her years as a child actress, her mother Jaid took her out to party at Studio 54 which subsequently introduced her young self to drugs and alcohol.

Drew Barrymore was in rehab by the age of 12, and when she spiralled out of control at 13, her mother institutionalized her at the Van Nuys Psychiatric Hospital for 18 months. However, Drew has reconciled with her mother Jaid following decades of estrangement.
