Dulce was seen inside the store not long before they headed to the park, according to the surveillance video. Alavez Perez told authorities she had let her daughter and 3-year-old son go to the playground while she stayed in the car with another younger relative.

After about 10 minutes, the mother reported her son returned to the car in tears because he couldn’t find Dulce. He pointed to the surrounding buildings where she had wandered.
