Abbott Nutrition voluntarily recalled several baby formula products in February 2022. This occurred when four infants were ill with a bacterial illness after consuming the formula.

Cronobacter sakazakii, a type of bacteria that may make you sick if consumed through food or drink, could have contaminated the formulae. It is extremely hazardous to infants.
Abbott Nutrition provides a huge range of infant formula products. The brands that have been recalled are Similac, Similac Alimentum, and Elecare. However, each of these brands has a variety of products. Each product works somewhat differently or contains unique ingredients.

Similac products, for example, include Similac Advance, Similac Organic, and Similac Pro-Advance, to mention a few. This means that the recall covers a broader range of products than you may imagine. In reality, the recall affected nearly 50 different goods.
Even though the investigation is concluded, baby formula shortages continue to plague the country, and the recall remains in effect. Consumers are being advised by the FDA not to use recalled Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered newborn formulas.
