An eyepatch is a small patch that is worn in front of one eye. It could be a cloth patch with an elastic band or a string around the head, an adhesive bandage, or a plastic device affixed to a pair of glasses.

It is commonly worn to conceal a missing or injured eye, but it can also be used therapeutically in youngsters to cure amblyopia.
Patching often improves vision in the weaker eye when worn over the dominant eye. It forces a child’s brain to accept and process images from the open, weaker eye in the case of children.

How do strapless eye patches stay on?
Adhesives on the back of strapless eye patches ensure a secure fit over the eye. The adhesive on a patch can irritate the skin around your eye, and the eye covering could irritate the area.
If you need to apply a sticky eye patch, gently dab milk of magnesia liquid over the patched skin and stick the patch once the liquid has dried. The milk of the magnesium layer keeps the adhesive from coming into direct touch with the skin, reducing or eliminating discomfort.
