Mallory Diane Pugh was born April 29, 1998, in Littleton, Colorado to parents, Karen and Horace Pugh. Her mother was a long-distance runner while her father Horace ran track and played football. She was raised alongside her older sister Brianna in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Mallory Pugh began playing soccer at the age of four and played club soccer with Real Colorado in the Elite Clubs National League. She attended Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch from 2012 to 2016. She proceeded to the University of California, Los Angeles but departed to pursue a professional career prior to starting her freshman season.

Mallory Pugh became the youngest player to debut for the national team since Heather O’Reilly’s debut in 2002 at the age of 17. She also became the 19th United States player to score in her debut. In January 2016, she became the youngest female player to be selected and play for the U.S. national team during an Olympic qualifying tournament.

Mallory Pugh is also the youngest player to ever score a goal for the United States in an Olympic game following her participation in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At 21, she was the second-youngest member of the 2019 team behind 20-year-old Tierna Davidson at the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament.
