Paul Anthony Ryder was an English musician, a bass player and a founding member of the Manchester band Happy Mondays.

Ryder died suddenly on July 15, 2022 aged 58.

In a statement posted on social media, the Happy Mondays band confirmed the tragic news, writing,

“The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning.”

They added that the bassist was a “true pioneer and a legend.”

Ryder was found dead on Friday (15 July) hours before he was due to play with the band at a festival in Sunderland.
