World Athletics Championships 2022: Who won the 10000 meter?

The 2022 World Athletics Championships are currently being held from July 15 to 24, 2022, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

World record-holder Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda won the World Athletics 10,000-Meter Championship with a 53.4-second final lap to successfully defend his world 10,000-meter title in 27:27.43.

In the previous laps of the men’s 10,000 metres, he was huddled with Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Selemon Barega of Ethiopia and others.

But on the final lap, Cheptegei surged ahead to win in 27 minutes, and 27.43 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene on Sunday, July 17 2022.

He’d successfully defended his previous world title in 2019, adding to his growing list of achievements.

Cheptegei currently holds world records in the 5000m and 10,000m, as well as the 15km road race. He also holds the Ugandan records for the 5 km and 10 km runs.
