He was born on 7 June 2003 in Kanye, Botswana and as early as six years, his talent in sport was evident as he was already a well-rounded footballer and sprinter.

Guided by his teachers, Tebogo was encouraged to participate in both sporting disciplines. However, injuries cut short his football career so he opted to focus solely on track, a decision which has paid off.

On 19 February 2022, Tebogo set a new national record in the 100 m at the Botswana Athletics Association championships with a time of 10.08 seconds.

He improved this mark two months later by clocking a time of 9.96 seconds at the Gaborone International Meet, setting a new under-20 world record.

On 15 July 2022, he further improved this mark in his debut race at the World athletics championships held in Eugene, Oregon with a time of 9.94 seconds.

The following month he broke his record again, clocking a 9.91 second run at the 100 metres final during the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships.

Getting to the end of the race, he celebrated in Usain Bolt-esque style, leading to him gaining global acclaim as the heir apparent of the 100m and 200m World Records holder Usain Bolt.
