Uma Devi Pemmaraju was a television anchor and Indian-American journalist. She was one of the original Fox News cable network hosts when it debuted in 1996.

Uma Pemmaraju passed away on Tuesday, August 9 2022 at the age of 64. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Uma was born in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India, on March 31, 1958. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where she attended Trinity University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science.

She studied international relations at American University for a year as part of an exchange programme with Trinity University.

She rose to prominence as the host and anchor of America’s News Headquarters with Uma Pemmaraju on Fox News.

When Fox News first debuted in October 1996, she was a member of the team. She hosted several shows and specials and interviewed celebrities such as the Dalai Lama, Whoopi Goldberg, and others.

She received several Emmy Awards for her reporting and investigative journalism, as well as a Texas AP Award, the Big Sisters Organization of America’s Woman of Achievement Award, and the Matrix Award from Women in Communications.
