Dylan Edward Cease is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2019 and three years later, specifically on August 1, 2022, he was named MLB Central’s Pitch Hand winner for the month of July.

Cease signed a 1 year / $750,000 contract with the Chicago White Sox, including $750,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $750,000. In 2022, Cease will earn a base salary of $750,000.

Cease attended Vanderbilt University on a college baseball scholarship to play for the Vanderbilt Commodores and during the summer seasons, he competed for Team Elite out of Winder, GA.

Cease’s outstanding performances led to him being invited to the Perfect Game National Showcase and Perfect Game All-American Classic.

He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round. He signed with the Cubs, receiving a $1.5 million signing bonus, well above the $269,500 recommended at that slot.

On July 13, 2017 he was traded by the Cubs to the Chicago White Sox and he was assigned by The White Sox to the Kannapolis Intimidators of the Class A South Atlantic League.

In 22 total games between South Bend and Kannapolis, Cease posted a 1-10 record with a 3.28 ERA along with 126 strikeouts in a career high 93+1⁄3 innings pitched.
