Former NFL coordinator, Ernie Zampese, died at the age of 86 on August 29, 2022. His cause of death was not stated.

Ernie was aged 86 and survived by family members, friends and his son, Ken Zampese, who is works as an NFL coach.
Who Was Ernie Zampese?
Ernie was born on March 12, 1936. He had played for Santa Barbara High School, and had coached the Rams, as well as the Dallas Cowboys.
In 1953, he won the CIF Player of the Year and joined the USC Trojans as a halfback in 1955 and 1956.

Ernie ended up coaching at Allan Hancock Junior College, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, San Diego State University and NFL teams, such as the San Diego Chargers, the Washington Commanders, the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.
While he was with the Rams, he helped them finish in the top 10 in passing yards in five seasons.
Ernie retired in 2004, and won the Award of Excellence from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
