Ian Andrew Cockbain is the son of Ian Cockbain, an English cricketer born in Bootle, Lancashire who was born on 19 April 1958 and died 2 September 2022 at age 64.

We are saddened to learn of the death of Ian Cockbain, aged 64 years, who played 46 first-class and 28 one-day games for Lancashire between 1979 and 1983.

Ian made his highest score of 98 in the game at Southport against Warwickshire in 1982 where Lancashire famously overturned a huge score by the visitors to win by ten wickets.

Ian Cockbain’s son was born on 17 February 1987, Liverpool and he is an English cricketer who currently plays for Gloucestershire.

A right-handed batsman and right-hand medium pace bowler, he made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire against Derbyshire in August 2011 and then joined Gloucestershire in 2010 on a two-year deal after impressing opening for MCC young cricketers.

In April 2022, Cockbain was bought by the Trent Rockets for the 2022 season of The Hundred.
