He was born on January 15, 1913 in San Leandro, California, United States Harriet Evelyn (Brown) Bridges (1893–1950) and Lloyd Vernet Bridges (1887–1962).

Bridges began his acting career as a contract performer for Columbia Pictures, appearing in films such as Sahara (1943), A Walk in the Sun (1945), Little Big Horn (1951) and High Noon (1952), Airplane! (1980), Hot Shots! (1991), and Jane Austen’s Mafia! (1998). On television, he starred in Sea Hunt from 1958 to 1961.

Bridges was a two-time Emmy Award nominee. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 1, 1994.
Lloyd Bridges was married to Dorothy Dean Bridges and together they had four children; Beau Bridges, Jeff Bridges, Lucinda Bridges and Garrett Bridges, who died of sudden infant death syndrome in 1948.
Lloyd Bridges died on March 10, 1998, at age 85 in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Dorothy Louise Bridges was an American actress and poet.
She was born on September 19, 1915 in Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.

Dorothy attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she met her future husband, Lloyd Bridges while acting in a small theatrical play on campus.
She was an actress, known for Finders Keepers (1921), Sea Hunt (1958) and See You in the Morning (1989).
Dorothy Bridges died on February 16, 2009, at age 93 in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States.
