On December 14, 2020, McLaughlin was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets. On January 2, 2021, McLaughlin was promoted to full-time starter after the Jets’ decision to cut Sam Ficken. McLaughlin was waived after the season on May 7, 2021.

McLaughlin was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on May 10, 2021. In Week 3 of 2021 against Chicago, McLaughlin made 4 out of 4 field goals, including a 57-yarder, as well as both of his extra points. He was waived on May 2, 2022

McLaughlin signed with the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts on September 13, 2022, after the team released Rodrigo Blankenship. He was promoted to the active roster on October 4.

Is Chase McLaughlin a starter?

Colts elevated K Chase McLaughlin from the practice squad.

He will kick Sunday against the Jags with the Colts operating as three-point road favorites in a 45-totaled affair. After starting for the Browns in 2021, McLaughlin was eventually released after the team drafted Cade York out of LSU in the 2022 draft.

He then lost the preseason kicker battle in Indianapolis to recently released kicker Rodrigo Blankenship but gets a fresh start with the recent transaction. McLaughlin struggled in 2021 with the Browns, missing 6-of-10 field goal attempts between 40-49 yards.

Consider McLaughlin nothing more than a low-end streaming option in deep leagues that still include kickers.
