Anna Wahlgren made her literary debut in 1968 with the collection of short stories En av kvälarna I november (One of the Evenings in November) and the children’s book Burken.
She made a name for herself with the novel Veka livet, which received a high edition for the time. Barnaboken, her most famous book, was published in several editions and was translated into several languages.
Wahlgren’s most famous work was Barnaboken, which was published in 1983. She also wrote novels, short story collections, poems, a children’s book, and a three-part autobiography, and she was an outspoken participant in public debates about child-rearing
