Rudy York, known officially as Preston Rudolph York, was an American professional baseball player, coach, scout, and manager who served as manager for the Boston Red Sox in 1959.

Rudy York is a one-time American League Home Run Leader and a one-time American League RBI Leader. Rudy York was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame posthumously.

Rudy York Obituary

Rudy York was born in Ragland, Alabama, on August 17, 1913, and died in Rome, Georgia, on February 5, 1970, at the age of 56 years as a  result of bacterial pneumonia and was survived by his wife and three children.

Rudy York was then buried some weeks after his death at Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville.

The death of Rudy York was a very sad one and he was honoured by many organisations due to his contribution to baseball.
