Coy Gibbs was born to his father Joe Gibbs, a five-time NASCAR Cup Series championship-winning owner and Pro Football Hall of Famer. Coy Gibbs was a linebacker at Stanford University from 1991–1994.
Coy Gibbs made his NASCAR debut in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2000. In 2001, Coy Gibbs began racing a full-time schedule, posting two top-five finishes.
Coy Gibbs was residing in Cornelius, North Carolina with his wife Heather. He is the father of four children, including sons Ty, Case, and Jett, and a daughter named Elle.
