As a result, Hemsworth will be temporarily stepping aside from acting, as the disease is one that causes memory loss.
According to Hemsworth, a revent doctor’s report showed that he was 10% more likely to contract Alzheimer’s disease than the average person.
Hemsworth, who starred in the movie, Thor, had been on set filming his new documentary series Limitless, when a genetic test was carried out and he discovered that he carried two copies of an uncommon gene which causes dementia and Alzehimers.

Reports show that only 3% of humans have this particular gene in double copies, hence the risk of the actor having Alzheimer’s disease is very high.
“It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off. And since we finished the show, I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do”, Hemsworth said during a recent interview.
“Now when I finish this tour this week, I’m going home and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife”, he added.
