Matilde Urrutia, the third wife of Pablo Neruda, was a Chilean physical therapist who came into the limelight as a result of her marriage with Pablo Neruda.

Matilde Urrutia and Pablo Neruda tied the knot in 1966 but their marriage could not stand the test of time due to the unfortunate death of Pablo. Matilde Urrutia and Pablo Neruda lived as a couple for seven years and they did not have any kids together.

Matilde Urrutia was of Basque ancestry and she has authored a number of books which include “My life with Pablo Neruda.” Matilde Urrutia was quite famous and she was known to be the first woman in Latin America to ply her trade as a pediatric therapist.

Matilde Urrutia was born to José Ángel Urrutia and María del Tránsito Cerda in Chillán, Chile, on May 5, 1912, and died in Santiago, Chile, on January 5, 1985, at the age of 72 years.
