What Happened To Beverly Guenther?

Beverly Guenther, a 45 years old woman from Moscow Mills was stabbed with a steak knife as she left her job in Earth City on November 20, 2003, by her then ex-boyfriend Scott McLaughlin who goes by the name Amber McLaughlin.

Beverly Guenther and Amber McLaughlin had dated on and off for about a year and lived together briefly.

However, a tumultuous breakup prompted Beverly Guenther to seek restraining orders against McLaughlin.

McLaughlin hid in the bushes outside Compucard, an Earth City store that sold badges and lanyards, in 2003 and waited for Guenther to leave.

According to court testimony, McLaughlin then stabbed her in the neck and raped her after she died.

Amber McLaughlin loaded the body into a station waggon and drove it to a location near Bellerive Park in south St. Louis. McLaughlin attempted to drag her body to the Mississippi River, but became exhausted and gave up.

Amber McLaughlin threw Guenther’s clothes in the trash and drove to Fenton, where he fell asleep in a commuter parking lot before heading to a relative’s trailer in northern Jefferson.

McLaughlin was quickly apprehended and led officers to the body. Guenther’s blood was discovered in McLaughlin’s car, and McLaughlin’s DNA was discovered on Guenther’s body.

Amber McLaughlin was sentenced to death and executed in the United States on Tuesday, January 3 2023 night.
