Evel Knievel, after completing his sophomore year in Butte High School, left education and got a job as a diamond drill operator with the Anaconda Mining Company. However, his true passion was in motorbiking and not in the mining industry.

Growing up in Butte, Montana, Knievel had a tumultuous youth and was often arrested for stealing hubcaps and motorcycles. However, this led to a passion for motorcycle riding and he began performing stunts in his early 20s.

Evel Knievel even attempted to jump across the Snake River Canyon in Idaho, though the stunt was ultimately unsuccessful.

Over the course of his career, Evel Knievel attempted more than 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps and suffered numerous injuries, including broken bones.
