Colleen Hoover is an American author who writes young adult fiction and romance novels.

Raised in Saltillo, Texas, Hoover graduated from Saltillo High School in 1998 and earned a degree in social work from Texas A&M-Commerce in 2005.

She worked various social work and teaching jobs until starting her career as an author.

Colleen’s first novel, Slammed, was self-published in January 2012. It hit the New York Times a few months later, followed by the sequel, Point of Retreat. She then signed both novels with Atria Books.

Colleen Hoover is now published by Montlake Romance, Grand Central Publishing and Atria Books.

In 2015, Colleen’s novel Confess won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance. Her novel It Ends With Us also won the Choice Award for Best Romance in 2016.

Colleen founded The Bookworm Box, a charity subscription service and bookstore, with her family in 2015.
