He last participated in the competition on a part-time basis in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the Nos. 22 and 37 Chevrolet Silverados for AM Racing, the No. 32 Chevrolet SS for the same team in the ARCA Menards Series, and the No. 30 Ford Fusion for Rette Jones Racing in the ARCA Menards Series East.
Additionally, he most recently participated in the NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series while operating the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro.

From 2008 until 2013, he was the Mexican Super Kart Champion. In the NASCAR Mikel’s Truck Series, he received the Rookie of the Year award in 2017. He took home the title in 2018.

On January 29, 2023, a Ford Explorer pickup truck struck Max and his brother Federico’s Porsche Boxster as they were driving close to Valle de Bravo, Mexico.
Federico Gutierrez, a NASCAR driver, was just 17 years old.
According to Motorsport.com, Federico and his brother Max were in a car when it crashed with a truck on the highway close to Valle de Bravo resort, which is roughly 60 miles west of Mexico City.
While Max was taken to a nearby hospital where he is presently receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, the 17-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the spot.
Federico raced in the Truck Mexico Series and made his US debut in a Late Model contest in 2021. Additionally, he received the 2022 NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series Rookie of the Year award.
