Elena Fanchini was an Italian alpine ski racer focused on downhill and super-G speed events.

She was born on 30 April 1985 in Lovere, Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy, and grew up with her younger sisters, Nadia Fanchini and Sabrina Fanchini, both skiers.
Elena announced in January 2018 that she would not participate in the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics due to cancer.
She recovered after treatment and was preparing to return in the 2019 season for the World Cup.

However, during training for the Killington Super-G, Fanchini fell on the Superstar track and fractured a finger.
She also sustained a distortion-bruising trauma to the left knee and fractured her proximal fibula.
Due to the injury, she was forced to return to Italy without competing in the event.
On 8 February 2023, Elena died of cancer, aged 37.
