Alexander Volkanovski is an Australian MMA fighter. Volkanovski currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Featherweight division, where he is the current UFC Featherweight Champion. Volkanovski was born in Wollongong, New South Wales, on September 29, 1988. Volkanovski’s father was born in the SR Macedonian village of Beranci (now North Macedonia), and his mother is from Greece. Alex began wrestling at a young age and won a national title twice before the age of 12.

Volkanovski attended Lake Illawarra High School throughout his adolescence and later worked as a concreter. Volkanovski trains at Freestyle Fighting Gym in Wollongong but also attends training camps at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket and City Kickboxing in Auckland with fellow UFC fighters Israel Adesanya, Dan Hooker, and Kai Kara-France. Eugene Bareman and Craig Jones have been members of Volkanovski’s team.
