Before transferring to the University of Iowa, where she led her team in field goal percentage during the 1996–1997 season, she made her mark as a junior college player at Seminole State in Oklahoma, becoming the first All-American in school history.

Simone Edwards, a former national women’s basketball player, has passed away. After a protracted struggle with sickness, she passed away at her home in Florida.

A while back, stage three ovarian cancer was discovered in the 49-year-old Edwards, a former player for the Seattle Storm in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is the first female Jamaican to sign with a WNBA franchise.

Before declaring her retirement from the sport in May 2006, Edwards won the WNBA Championship with the Storm in 2004.

Edwards didn’t play basketball in high school. A collegiate basketball coach from the United States took notice of her after she participated in a track competition in Jamaica.

When she was a student at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma, she became famous for the first time on the court when she helped the team achieve a perfect conference record and a top-10 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

During her time there, she became the first Kodak All-American in school history. She led the University of Iowa Hawkeyes in field goal percentage during her senior season in 1996–1997. (.557).
