After a protracted sabbatical from the industry and more than ten years since his 2011 directorial debut, Anuvahood, actor-writer-director Deacon makes his directorial debut with this film. Deacon, Zonzolo, and Michael Vu wrote it (on which he collaborated with Vu).
After becoming well-known through the drama Kidulthood in 2006, he unexpectedly took home the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2012, defeating Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris O’Dowd, and Eddie Redmayne. However, he later withdrew after a public struggle with mental illness. After receiving a bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2015, he received treatment.
