He appeared in the drama series Dramarama in 1983.

He made a brief appearance in David Leland’s British film Wish You Were Here in 1987, and he rose to prominence in the television drama Two of Us, which depicted a gay relationship between two schoolboys. The following year, he co-starred in Starting Out, a Central Television series for schools, with Coronation Street’s Chris Gascoyne.
