Over the years, there have been many ownership changes for the Flatiron Building. Before being taken over by the Newmark Group in 1997, Helmsley-Spear managed the structure for most of the second part of the 20th century.

The building’s renovations, which are being carried out by a variety of different parties, began in 2019. The three sections of the building’s outside facade have a classical column-like appearance.
