Diplo’s alias is short for Diplodocus which comes from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs. Diplo began rising to fame began in 2004 with his critically-acclaimed debut album Florida.

Diplo and fellow DJ Low Budget under the “Hooked on Hollertronix moniker” released the mixtape, Never Scared, which was named one of The New York Times’ top ten albums of 2003.
Diplo and singer Mark Ronson’s 4th single featuring British singer/songwriter Dua Lipa, called “Electricity” won a Grammy at the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards for Best Dance Recording in 2018.
