Boxing coach Pete Taylor suffered serious leg injuries while “chasing a thief” in Barcelona.

Recounting the incident on his Instagram in November 2022, Pete said; “The beginning of another recovery journey. Freak injury incurred chasing a thief in Barcelona.”
“Training will be on as normal. Please respect and show appreciation for the coaches who are covering for me until I can get into the gym.”
“First step toward getting home is proving I can manage my mobility.”
In another post, Pete appreciated his new wife, Karen, and told his followers that she is helping him to walk again.

Pete Taylor also suffered a heart attack in 2019.
on June 5, 2018, Pete was a victim in the Bray boxing club shooting. He was shot in the chest and arm, but he ultimately survived.
Although Pete survived, the incident claimed the life of his friend Bobby Messett at Bray Boxing Club, Bray Harbour, Bray, Co Wicklow.
His daughter Katie Taylor issued a statement issuing condolences to the family of Bobby Messet and relief that her father had survived.
Born in Leeds and raised in Birmingham, Pete initially visited Bray to work with his father in the amusement arcades on the seafront. He later settled in Bray after meeting and marrying his wife Bridget Cranley.
Pete Taylor and Bridget Cranley went on to have four children; Lee Taylor, Peter Taylor, Sarah Taylor and boxer, Katie Taylor.
In 1986, Pete became a champion light heavyweight boxer in Ireland.
An electrician by trade, he eventually became Katie Taylor’s full-time boxing coach. He also coached Adam Nolan who, like Taylor, represented Ireland at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Bridget also developed an interest in boxing and became one of the earliest female referees and judges in Ireland.
Pete Taylor is currently married to Karen Brown.
