As an acting justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Juan Manuel Merchan (born 1962 or 1963) is an American judge and former prosecutor of Colombian descent.

In the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Merchan started his career in 1994 as an assistant district attorney. He prosecuted financial frauds and other cases while working in the trial division and investigations division of the office. He was employed by the New York State Attorney General’s office from 1999 to 2006, serving first as the Deputy Attorney General in Charge of the Nassau County Region (1999–2001), then as the Assistant Attorney General in Charge of Affirmative Litigation for the Nassau and Suffolk Counties (2003–2006), and finally as the Assistant Attorney General in Charge of the Nassau County Region (2006–present).

Judge Juan Merchan daughter: Who is Who is Loren Merchan?
The 34-year-old Loren Merchan, a partner and president of the progressive digital business Authentic Campaigns, worked on a number of well-known Democratic campaigns, including President Joe Biden’s. Loren Merchan is the daughter of the Manhattan judge who presided over President Trump’s case. According to Merchan’s social media profiles, she is married to Taylor Harper, a census geographer. The Virginia wedding was officiated by Juan Merchan, her father and the judge presiding over the Trump case.
