Irish actor Paul Mescal was born in Maynooth on February 2, 1996. He continued his acting studies at The Lir Academy and finally appeared in a number of plays in Dublin theaters.

Mescal rose to fame for his role of Connell Waldron in the 2020 debut of the miniseries Normal People. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and received a BAFTA TV Award for his exceptional performance.

In 2021, Mescal made his acting debut in a supporting part in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. Additionally, he appeared in the drama movies God’s Creatures and Aftersun in 2022.

For his role as a tormented father in the latter, he won praise from critics and received nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA.

Mescal had offers to play parts in The Great Gatsby and Angela’s Ashes after earning his bachelor’s in arts. At the Gate Theatre in Dublin, he opted for the latter and took on the role of Jay Gatsby.

His performance was described by The Irish Times as a “butterfly of self-creation.” In the same year, Mescal also portrayed the Prince in a contemporary production of The Red Shoes at the same theater.

Paul Mescal stands 5′ 11″ (1.80 m) tall. A Midsummer Night’s Dream and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man were both produced by the Rough Magic Theatre Company in 2018, and Mescal made his stage debut in The Plough and the Stars at London’s Lyric Hammersmith.
