Real name Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, Diogo Jota is a professional football player from Portugal who plays as a forward or winger for Liverpool in the English Premier League and for the Portugal national team.

Diogo Jota, which is pronounced [diou t] in Portuguese, is the name by which he is known. He was born on December 4th, 1996.
Jota started his professional football career at Paços de Ferreira, a team in the Primeira Liga, before moving on to Atlético Madrid in La Liga in 2016.
Prior to being loaned out to FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he helped the latter team win promotion to the Premier League, he played in the Primeira Liga for two seasons.
Then, in 2018, he reportedly paid €14 million to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he featured in 131 appearances and scored 44 goals. He joined Liverpool in 2020 for a £41 million fee.

In a 3-0 away victory over Norwich City in August 2021, Jota scored Liverpool’s opening goal of the 2021–2022 Premier League campaign. Later on in the season, he added several more goals, including one in a 5-0 away win over Liverpool’s rivals, Manchester United, in October.
In November, he scored in a 2-0 home win over his previous team Atlético Madrid to help Liverpool advance as the group’s top team to the round of sixteen of the Champions League.
