Why did Adam Larsson leave the Oilers?

Despite not suiting up against his former team on Tuesday, Adam Larsson, a shutdown defenseman and assistant captain for the Edmonton Oilers, has made a lasting impression.

The Oilers made Larsson an offer that included a four-year contract at almost the same $16 million that he received in Seattle as a free agency, as well as a five-year agreement paying in the high $3s each season.

But he has said that in no way did he depart due to money. There were other, family-related elements that were far more crucial.

Robert Larsson, the father of Larsson, who played hockey and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round, died in this country in 2018 at the age of 50 after suffering a heart attack while visiting his son from their home in Sweden.
