A native of Michigan, Moody attended Northville High School in Northville, Michigan, where he played football and baseball (third baseman), graduating in 2018. He was named a three-time Kensington Lakes Athletic Association (KLAA) scholar athlete from 2015 to 2017.

Moody played college football at Michigan, where he was a two-time All-American and the winner of the 2021 Lou Groza Award.

Michigan’s all-time leading scorer, Moody appeared in 60 career games. He scored 355 points, converting 69-of-84 field goals (82.1%) and all 148 PATs. Moody emerged as the third player in school history to record consecutive seasons with 100-plus points, joining running backs Anthony Thomas (1999-2000) and Tom Harmon (1939-40).

Moody was drafted by the 49ers with the 99th overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
